Police are only allowed to use force that is reasonable to accomplish their law enforcement purpose. Too often, police use force that is excessive or as a means of punishment. This can be anything from handcuffing an individual too tightly, to pointing weapons at persons who pose no threat, or using illegal restraint techniques--just to name a few.
If a law enforcement officers caused you or your loved one serious injury, criminal charges are not the only way you can seek justice. You have the right to file a civil rights lawsuit to hold police officers and police departments accountable for the harm that they have caused.
